Improvements from feedback
I am very pleased with the feedback that i received regarding my ancillary task and glad that my focus group believed that it could be a Kook product.
My focus group reported back to me that the dates were difficult to read, so to improve this I will move them off centre and try to put them where the picture has the whiter background so that they stand out better.
They also found the copyright at the bottom of the poster difficult to read so I will change this to a brighter font.
FRONT COVER -
They found the font at the bottom was a bit too much and detracted from the over all attractiveness of my piece. To improve this I will remove some of the text and limit what is at the bottom of the front cover.
PAMPHLET - My focus group didn't report badly but some changes i'm going to make are -
To move the font so there are even gaps and where text overlaps the images change the colour of the font so it is clearer to read.
However they mentioned some areas that they weren't pleased with and I am now going to change these -

17 year old girl - 'I love the black and white image, and how it highlights certain members of the band'
21 year old boy - 'The poster is very eye catching and would definitely catch my eye if I were to see it'.
18 year old girl - ' i love the idea of this however the tour dates are hard to read at times'.
17 year old girl - 'the way these photos are edited are brilliant and fits into the indie rock genre very well'
21 year old boy - 'Its great, I can see this being in a Kook CD album cover'.
18 year old girl - ' These are very catching however certain sections of text are difficult to read across the pictures'.

Font used
This is the font that is most commonly used by the Kooks, they use it on all of their products therefore to make sure that our product is in keeping with the Kooks we will also use this bold capital letter font.
This is the font that we found on photoshop that we thought resembled this font the best and will keep our digipack in keeping with the Kook band -

Teachers feedback on first draft
Overall our teacher gave us positive feedback on our video and said that he believed it fitted into the genre well. However the things that we need to improve are -
- Make sure all instruments are in time with the music
- To increase the pace throughout
- To create a distinction between chorus and verse
- To add more split screens into the video increasing link with the rest of my products
- To brighten and quicken narrative clips
- To alter colours throughout the video
We have our own corrections that we want to make to improve our video so hopefully once all changes have been made we will produce an effective professional video.
Colours used
The colours we are going to use and are going to be constant throughout to make the whole digipack as whole product. The font colour we are going to use on the album is -
Originally Jess and I decided that on the poster the font on the title would be the same red as the jumpers worn by the band however we want to keep a constant colour scheme so have decided to use the same colour font as the CD.
Here is a picture of the font used on the poster -

Analysis of my feedback
From my questionnaires I asked participants to rate my video I found that-
I would like to improve this rating as much as possible. To do this I will need to make some corrections such as -
- increase the pace of my video by adding quicker cuts between shots
- increase the variety of shots that I use, add in more close ups
- change colours on some shots, for example studio, instrument and narrative shots
- quicken the end of my video
- make sure all instruments are in time and cuts are not jumpy
By making these amendments and further changes from my teachers feedback and also my own changes that I dislike about the video, I hope that I will be able to meet the needs of my target audience and if this product were to sell they would buy it.

Feedback received from focus group on first draft of music video
We got our focus group to watch our video at the first draft stage and asked them for their feedback on what they liked or disliked. We used a 17 and 18 year old teenage girls and a 21 year old boy as this is the focus group of the Kooks. Here are the questionnaires that they filled in -
18 year old girl -
21 year old boy -
17 year old girl, who is also a media student. I felt this would be appropriate as she is a fan of indie music and would be able to pick on micro elements, editing and camera angles more effectively than other members who filled out the questionnaires.
A parent, I wanted to receive feedback from a parent to find out their reaction of my video as some of my target audience are 13 years old and their parents may be the one who would buy the CD or let them watch the music video. If parents of my target audience find it appropriate then my audience would be more likely to buy my product.

First draft complete
Today we have completed our first draft, we are not overly happy with our piece and will make many amendments to it once we have received our feed back.
Here is our video -
We will now show this video to our focus group to get their feedback on what they liked and disliked and what they believe Jess and I could improve to our video.
Here is our video -
Panelling
On both the back and front cover we have decided to panel and split up the images.
On the front cover we will have the band sitting on a bench and this image will then be split off centre with a white gap left.
On the back cover we will have three separate images all with white gaps between them, we will have the band sitting on the bench in different places and positions this is similar to all over Kook CD albums, we will then have the bands feet and the key band member in two different images.
We have chosen to do this to our CD album as the Kooks are an indie band that like to isolate themselves from mainstream media in their music and this then transpires onto their look and products. Therefore we made sure that our digipack didn't resemble a main stream product. By this panelling it has chopped up the front and back cover making it seem disjointed and choppy resembling there indie feel and distance from mainstream music. Also the word 'Kook' means a crazy or eccentric person through the panelling and splitting up of images portrays an eccentric vibe.
This therefore means that our product fits directly into the indie genre whilst also resembling the Kooks as a band but without completely copying the Kook CD albums, we have managed to keep the Kook ethos but change it slightly.

Poster Image
For the poster Jess and I have decided that we will make the image black and white and then chrome key two of the band members jumpers, who are wearing red. Will then have a bright coloured font that stands out from the background for the tour dates and title.
This will then stay in keeping with the black and white images in the pamphlet and de saturated images of the band on the front and back cover. This will then add continuity to the digi pack and create a feeling of a proffessional product.

Change of photo choice
After looking back at the photos that we took on the bench and in the woodland area, Jess and I decided that we are going to change our ideas around.
So the final descion made is that
So the final descion made is that
- The poster - will be the woodland image
- The CD cover - will be the band members on the bench and the pamphlet will be pictures of the band.
